Genuine alexandrite is one of the most expensive gemstones available commercially, with the stronger color changes being more highly valued. As I said Alexandrite is an extremely rare and valuable gemstone. The small .25 carrot stone in my ring that I mentioned I purchased at the gem and mineral show was $1500. I love my ring and Alexandrite is one of my most favorite stones. If you dont have one look hard and I forgot to mention that there is a synthetic version of the stone that works and looks just as amazing as the real thing. Plus it is also like 1/3 the price.
